Oracle’s Data Integrator Saves ‘Shoppers Stop’ Time and Money

Data Integration

Earlier this week, Oracle announced that a chain of Indian department stores deployed Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition to save time and money. The chain, Shoppers Stop, is a leading retailer that needed a new data system to handle its growth and strengthen its sales performance capabilities.

Now, with the Oracle Data Integrator, Shoppers Stop reduced the time it took to refresh data in its data warehouse from half a day to one hour. Managers are now able to receive up to date and timely sales, loyalty data and inventory. Data entry is a lot easier now too as the team can enter the information in parts into different systems and by the next morning, the data will be cleansed and consolidated.

The Oracle Data Integrator also made analyzing products easier. The Shoppers Stop team can analyze the products that the store sells, throughout its 30 stores in different cities. In addition to product analysis, the Oracle Data Integrator helps with customer buying analysis and picks up on certain trends or behavior to ensure that inventory levels correspond with times when there are more purchases.

Shoppers Stop executives realized that they needed to deploy a system that would help them bring in more customers and strengthen sales. The Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition was their answer. Arun Gupta, the Customer Care Associate and Group Chief Technology Officer at Shoppers Stop, commented. He said, “In a competitive landscape and growing segment such as retail, it is prudent to drive business enablement with technology to improve customer satisfaction. IT helps optimize business and reduce operational IT budgets and Oracle has been a key component in helping us in our quest towards delivering value to business.”

Also, Shoppers Stop’s sales team reduced the time it took to complete standard reports from one hour to a few minutes. In addition, the Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition improved the company’s customer loyalty program, ‘First Citizen’, which has almost 1.7 million members.

Oracle is very pleased with the results of Shoppers Stop’s decision to deploy the Data Integrator Enterprise Edition. The Vice President of Fusion Middleware in Oracle, India, Shailender Kumar, said, “We are proud to partner with Shoppers Stop on their growth journey. The deployment of Oracle Data Integrator has enabled Shoppers Stop to quickly integrate vast amounts of data from disparate systems while reducing costs and improving efficiencies. We realize managing information is the key in a highly competitive sector such as retail and Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition offers an extensible architecture that meets present and future business integration and expansion needs.”
